Lilbourne Lad earned a quote of 16/1 for the Guineas after his impressive win in the Dubai Duty Free Railway Stakes Group 2 at the Curragh today. The Richard Hannon trained and Richard Hughes ridden colt was up with the pace all the way along with Tough As Nails and they both pulled clear of the remainder of the field in the last furlong with Lilbourne Lad showing great determination and class to win by three quarters of a length at the line. The Andrew Russell owned colt is likely to be stepped up to Group 1 level on his next start with the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh in early August as the likely target. Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock Ltd purchased Lilbourne Lad for £80,000 at DBS Premier Yearling sale in 2010.
