Moriarty won the Craven Plate Group 3 race at Randwick on Saturday after he responded very well when asked for an extra effort and got his head in front of Rising Romance in the shadows of the post to record his fourth win at Group level. Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock Ltd purchased Moriarty at Tattersalls October Yearling Sales in 2009 for 52,000gns, he was then sold to Australia. His trainer Chris Waller has included Moriarty in the nominations for both the Group 1 Caulfield Cup at Caulfield on October 18 and the Group 1 Cox Plate at Moonee Valley on October 25, but said Moriarty may not contest either race and could be set for the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day.
