Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale continues to be the leading National Hunt Store Sale anywhere in the world.
The amazing trade seen on Day 1 of the 2021 Derby Sale continued apace into Day 2 resulting in a recording-breaking average and median price for the sale. Over the two days, the sale achieved its best-ever average of €54,018 and median of €48,000 produced by an 86 per cent clearance rate, which saw 299 lots sold from 347 offered. Twenty-four lots sold for €100,000 or more, and the turnover over the two days was €16,151,500. Day 2’s average of €56,698 broke the record achieved in a single session of the Derby Sale.
Geldings by Walk In The Park, the 2021 sale’s leading stallion, filled the top two spots with the half-brother to The Bosses Oscar (Lot 389) leading the way selling for €280,000. He is the most expensive National Hunt store horse sold this year.

The new July Store Sale is a select Store sale for three and four-year-old National Hunt store horses. The new July Store Sale will give vendors a choice of sales, whilst also adapting to current market trends where purchasers are breaking and putting horses in training at an earlier stage.
Well-bred NH fillies led the way at the inaugural July Store Sale, which saw solid trade throughout the one-day session returning a top price of €50,000.The 2021 sale concluded with 143 lots sold, turnover of €1,491,900, a median price of €8,000, an average price of €10,433 and a clearance rate of 68 per cent.

The sale, considered Europe’s most progressive yearling sale, provided consistent results on the track across the world.
The 2021 sale concluded with 402 horses sold (90 per cent clearance) for a record average price of £27,060 a record median price of £20,000 and a record turnover of £10,877,978, increases of 24 per cent, 25 per cent and 49 per cent on 2020’s returns. Over the two-day sale, six horses fetched six-figure sums, while 62 sold for £50,000 or more.. Graduates have been performing exceptionally well on the track already this season, most notably on Irish Guineas weekend where Helvic Dream won the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup and Gustavus Weston won the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes.
