Persica dug deep to win the Group 3 Superior Mile at Haydock on Saturday for his owners Mr Martin Hughes and Mr Michael Kerr-Dineen, trainer Richard Hannon and jockey James Doyle. Persica has always had plenty of ability, and it was great to see him rewarded with a big-race success. The son of New Bay was purchased by Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock Ltd at Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sales in 2022 for £200,000 from Baroda Stud.
