Japan won the Group 2 Beresford Stakes at Naas on Sunday by a short head for his owners Mrs John Magnier, Michael Tabor & Derrick Smith, trainer A P O’Brien and jockey Seamie Heffernan. Japan could follow the same path as Saxon Warrior, with the Vertem Futurity Trophy,previously the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster on October 27 as a potential target. Japan was purchased by M V Magnier/Mayfair/Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock at Tattersalls October Yearling Sales Book 1, 2017 for 1,300,000Gns from Newsells Park Stud.
